This section provides an overview of the data storage platforms, tools, and services available at TUM for managing research data throughout its lifecycle - from active collaboration and sharing to long-term preservation.

How to use this diagram​

  • Hot Data refers to data you are actively working with - it needs quick access, frequent updates, and often collaboration.
  • Cold Data refers to data that is no longer actively used but needs to be preserved for legal or scientific reasons.
  • Hover over the "?" icons to learn more about each tool, including storage limits and key features.
  • Follow the decision flow in the Cold Data section to determine the right preservation strategy for your research data.
